Canadian Work permit for International Student.

Canada allows international students to work full time  under the Co opt work program . If you are enrolled in a full time  program in which required professional experience as an integral part of the course , you can participate in co opt work permit program.

However,you must apply for a co opt work permit along with study permit . 

Under the current Immigration rules , you can't engage yourself to a cooperative work practices before you are being issued to a Co opt work permit. .

In order to apply for a Co-opt work permit , you must have to prove that:

• confirm a letter from your institution, which must states compulsory work experience required as part of the course.

• You also required a valid study permit

• And most importantly,Work account should be  less than 50% of the program

The following documents are required in order to apply for the Co –opt work permit:

• Letter from the Institution by  confirming  your  enrolment and invitation to join under co-opt work permit.

•A valid passport along with the study permit

• In addition to the documents they indicated, as appropriate, you may need to provide additional information / documents available upon request to you by the  COWP.

Processing Times

•          You are advised to apply at least 3 months before the COWP expiry date. Check the processing time for the  work permit applications submitted inside Canada.

If your application is approved, you will receive an confirmation from the COWP which will be posted to you on the given the address that  you provided on the  application form.

Please make sure :

•             Valid passport for more than the Co opt work permit's duration 

•             If your passport is expiring within the next 6 months, you must renew it before applying for a study and work permit.Permits can not be valid beyond the expiry date of the passport.

• If you required to further extend your visa ,you should use  form (IMM5709) alongwith your Study permit application form.
