What is an Australian Skilled Migration Program?

Australia skilled migration has been designed by Australia’s Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) to allow better access to skilled migrants whose occupations are in demand in Australia.Australian skilled migration point system and pass mark that Skill Select is built around is designed to respond over time in reply to Australia’s continued fluctuating job market.What are the Australian Skilled Migration Program requirements?

Age – Must be under 50 at the time of the application.English language – Should have sufficient ability in the English language to work in Australia (at least at a competent level);Nominated occupation –the nominated occupation must be found on the Skilled Occupations List;Skills assessment –The skills must be  assessed by the Australian assessing authority  which usually have specific qualifications requirements;
Health assessment – Must be  reasonably good health and all applicants must have their health assessed by a panel doctor and undergo a medical examination; andCharacter assessment – Must be good character and this too will be assessed.

Australian Skilled Independent Visa – subclass 189

To qualify for Australian Skill Independent visa, an applicant must meet the basic requirements and score a minimum of 60 points on the points test. 

These applicants will be working in occupations that appear on the Australian Skilled Occupations List :

(1).Australian Migration Program allows the successful applicant, independent of any sponsor, to gain immediate permanent residency in Australia, and places no restriction on the region of residence or the nature of the work the applicant can undertake. 

Australian Skilled Migration applicants are required to lodge an Expression of Interest (EOI) which will be reviewed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) and if deemed acceptable an Invitation to Apply (ITA) will be issued to the applicant to make an application to migrate to Australia. 
Applicants with higher scores will be selected for invitation first and occupations are subject to capping.Australian Skilled Nominated Visa – subclass 190

To qualify for Australian Skill Migration Program, an applicant must meet the basic requirements, score at least 60 points in the points test, and must be nominated by a participating State or Territory of Australia. 
These applicants will be working in occupations that appear on either the Skilled Occupations List (1), or the Combined Skilled Occupations List (2).The successful skill migrant applicant and all included dependents will be granted immediate permanent residency in Australia, and will be required to reside in the sponsoring State or Territory for a period of 2 years.

An Australian Skilled Nominated or Sponsored – subclass 489 (State/Territory or Family in a designated area) Provisional visa

To qualify for Australian Migration Program, an applicant must meet the basic requirements, score at least 60 points in the points test, and must be sponsored by a family member who is an Australian Citizen or permanent resident living in a designated area of Australia, or nominated by an Australian State or Territory. 
Most commonly these applicants will be working in occupations that appear on the Combined Skilled Occupations List (2).The successful applicant and all included dependents will be granted provisional residence for 4 years upon first entry to Australia and will be required to demonstrate that they have met the residence and work requirements as stipulated by the visa conditions in order to apply for an Australian Permanent Residence. 

Australian Skill Migration visa  is intended for those people who want to live and work in Australia, but who do not meet the requirements of the subclass 189 or 190.
